Votes are being cast today in the Tennessee primary and county general elections.  Polling  places are open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. in Davidson, Rutherford, Sumner, and Williamson counties.  Tennessee Secretary of State Tre Hargett has warned voting may take extra time, as ballots are long for this year’s elections.  Sample ballots and additional details are available at go-vote-T-N-dot-gov.

Police in Clarksville are on the lookout for Ezekiel Mitchell and Charles Watson.  They are wanted for attempted murder in connection to the shooting at the B-and-L Market on College Street early Monday morning. The victim was taken to the hospital in critical but stable condition. Officials say the suspects are considered armed and dangerous, and anyone that sees them is asked to call 9-1-1..

A man wanted for allegedly assaulting an officer in Virginia was recently arrested in Wilson County. Jeremie Carpenter was taken into custody following a chase in Lebanon last Friday. Officials say Carpenter was pulled over for a traffic stop, then tried to flee after officers found out there was a warrant for his arrest. Carpenter is awaiting extradition to Virginia.

Governor Bill Lee is urging Tennesseans to prepare for the new school year by downloading the SafeTN app.  The governor says it gives every resident a direct line to confidentially report suspicious or concerning activity within schools.  It’s also an easy way for parents and guardians to confidentially report safety concerns.  More information is available at TN-dot-gov and click on Homeland Security.

Cumberland Connect has recently announced its next step in its Fiber-to-the-Home project. This fourth phase of construction will pass an additional 20,000-plus locations will cover several portions of eastern Robertson County, including Cross Plains and extending all the way from the city limits of Springfield to the Kentucky state line.
