A traffic stop in Mt. Juliet resulted in the arrest of a Nashville man who was out on bond for his involvement in a triple shooting and murder. The Mt. Juliet Police Department said officers pulled a vehicle over on Mt. Juliet Road near Providence. Later, officers discovered the 20-year-old Nashville man in the car had a handgun with him, despite being a convicted felon with a previous robbery charge. They also found he was out on bond for his involvement in a Nashville triple shooting and murder that happened in September of 2022. Police also found marijuana in the vehicle.
A Wilson County couple is traveling to Barbados for IVF treatments. This comes when there are still questions about the future of IVF, after the Supreme Court’s abortion ruling and no mandate for insurance companies in Tennessee to cover infertility treatments. Yesterday, the Clarksville Police Department said officers responded to a call about a shooting. Officials said Clarksville High School and Richview Middle School were notified immediately due to their close proximity to the scene, adding that both schools went into a “lockout” status. Shortly before 1:30 p.m., the department confirmed the “lockout” had been lifted. Police responded quickly to investigate the incident, but no injuries were reported. According to authorities, witnesses said two suspects in a Jeep fled the area.
Coffee County law enforcement responded to a tip about a potential homicide Wednesday afternoon, only to discover it was a “swatting” call. The Coffee County Sheriff’s Department said a call came in on Wednesday, April 24 about a possible homicide in the Toliver Lake Road area. When deputies arrived at the scene, they secured the area, but after clearing the home and talking with the occupant, they determined it was a “swatting” call. Coffee County authorities said they take these types of calls seriously, so an investigation is underway to determine the origin and identity of the caller.
A convicted felon was arrested in Mt. Juliet Wednesday, leading to the recovery of a stolen handgun. Officers pulled a vehicle over for speeding on Lebanon Road near Highland Drive, arrested a 40-year-old Nashville man for the crime, and recovered a handgun that was reported stolen out of Nashville in 2017. “Tarp it or ticket” is Gallatin’s new motto to crack down on litter piling up on their roads. One of the reasons city officials believe the trash along roadsides is so bad is partly due to trucks driving with unsecured items along highways or side streets to the Sumner County Recycling Center and Transfer Station. In the Volunteer State, a vehicle carrying mulch, twigs, or trash must be secured with a tarp to ensure nothing will fall or blow out. Gallatin Mayor Paige Brown said without denying services or charging more for a tarp-less delivery at the dump, she feels tighter enforcement from police is the best way to keep the city clean.
Two people have been taken into custody in connection with the shooting deaths of a Clarksville couple earlier this month. 30-year-old Savannah Lumpkin and 26-year-old Glenn Nicholson were found shot to death on Martin Street just after 6:30 p.m. on Monday, April 8. Detectives now believe 20-year-old Tyson Mullins and 25-year-old Tristan Riley are the prime suspects in the murders of Lumpkin and Nicholson. Riley was arrested on Friday, April 12 in Chicago with the help of the Chicago Police Department’s Fugitive Recovery Team. He is currently awaiting extradition back to Clarksville. Mullins was arrested Tuesday and booked into the Montgomery County jail. He was charged with two counts of homicide.
One Middle Tennessee city is bringing the first Safe Haven Baby Box to the Metro Nashville area. Hendersonville is adding a baby box to Fire Station No. 5 at 1166 Forest Retreat Rd. Father Austin Gilstrap and Father Thomas Kalam with Our Lady of the Lake and Carols Reyes, a Deacon with Long Hollow Baptist Church, blessed the new baby box on Wednesday. This baby box marks the sixth in Tennessee and the 221st location in the nation.
A Cheatham County soccer coach is arrested at the soccer fields at River Bluff Park in front of kids and families. Jesse Daniels who had his young son in the car told officers he was late for picture day with his team. Daniels was clocked doing 27 miles per hour in a 10 mph zone. When the officer approached, Daniels began yelling loudly, calling the officer names, and using vulgarity in front of his own son. As it turns out Daniels’s long criminal history. According to TDOC, Daniels was convicted of Schedule II Drugs: Cocaine x 2 (2008) and sentenced to 8 years. He was paroled in 2011. Police arrested Daniels for disorderly conduct
Governor Bill Lee’s proposed school voucher bill is dead for the year after the House and Senate could not negotiate certain stipulations. The Senate said they had no issue with how schools administered tests. However, the House wanted a pullback from end-of-course exams and other tests to increase instruction time. Governor Bill Lee expressed his disappointment regarding the “death” of the bill during this legislative session. The General Assembly is expected to adjourn the legislative session on Thursday
An investigation is underway after a man was found dead outside a Clarksville Walmart Monday morning. Clarksville police reported an unresponsive man was found inside his vehicle and he was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives say it appears that the man died from a “medically related incident” and no foul play was involved. Call Clarksville police if you have any information.
Christian singer Mandisa died at her Nashville home on Thursday. She was 47. The Franklin Police Department says it is continuing to investigate the death of Mandisa who was found inside a Beamon Dr. residence. Police report at this time, there is no indication the death was the result of suspicious or criminal activity. Mandisa was a member of the Fisk Jubilee Singers and a former American Idol contestant. Firefighters in Goodlettsville spent part of their Saturday rescuing baby ducks that were found stuck inside a storm drain. The Goodlettsville Fire Department says two families of ducklings were found in the storm drain on Saturday. Firefighters said the mom of one group stayed inside the drain. However, the mom of the other group was not found. Officials said the mom and baby ducks were freed and released back to the public. Meanwhile, the orphaned group of ducks got on the firetruck, received a bath and have found their forever home with one of the firefighters!

A 2-alarm fire broke out at a hotel in the Antioch-area. The fire took place at the Wyndham Antioch, 1121 Bell Road, late Saturday. The Nashville Fire Department extinguished the fire, but not before multiple units were damaged. No injuries are reported. The Red Cross is assisting the guests who are displaced.
This week Kevin Raper a Republican state representative said he plans to say no to a bill that would allow teachers to carry a concealed gun. The bill is currently being held on the desk in the House, which means it’s on hold. The bill passed through committees in the House last year, but it was put on hold after The Covenant School shooting: the sponsor, Rep. Ryan Williams. R-Cookeville would have to move to take it off before the end of the session. Raper posted a video on social media where he said “As a former educator I see no positive aspects of this bill.
Daniel Riley, the man who caused a February 2023 crash in St. Louis that cost Middle Tennessee teen Janae Edmondson her legs, has been sentenced. He was found guilty of second-degree assault, fourth-degree assault, armed criminal action, and operating a vehicle without a valid license. He’ll serve 18 years and nine months in state prison.
Cheatham County deputies arrested a 19-year-old after he allegedly led law enforcement on a multi-county chase in a stolen truck Sunday night. Dillon Duke crashed and ran from the truck. He was chased down by a deputy in his patrol vehicle, who then collided with Duke. During the chase along State Highway 49 through Robertson and Cheatham County, speeds reached up to 120 mph. The deputy who collided with Duke does not face any disciplinary action, the Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office said.
The Boyd Center for Business and Economic Research at the University of Tennessee says Rutherford County is growing nearly two times faster than the state of Tennessee as a whole. According to data from UT Knoxville, Rutherford County is expected to gain more than 30,000 new residents in the next four years and 100,000 more in the next 10 years. Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland said as far as roads and traffic, the majority of the City of Murfreesboro’s main roads are owned by the state. Therefore, he is working with the state to get the roads ready for more cars. McFarland explained that 70% of the money the city is borrowing is specifically for transportation and traffic.
Some students in Rutherford County could be forced to find a new way to school as the district considers cutting some bus routes. Bus transportation would be eliminated for students whose homes are within one mile of the school if the Rutherford County School Board approves establishing a Parent Responsibility Zone. Several parents have a list of concerns with the proposal including the increasing possibility of a child being abducted. Additional worries include pedestrian safety with the lack of sidewalks in some of the more rural areas of the county, the headache of added traffic congestion, and the dangers of a child crossing it. Parents plan to voice their opinions at the school board meeting tonight.
Sumner County Emergency Medical Services is 14 field employees short with many staff members leaving for surrounding, higher-paying agencies. County leaders hope a one-time bonus will help ease the problem. On Monday, April 15, Sumner County commissioners amended the proposal and passed the first reading to provide a one-time, $1,500 bonus for all EMS field employees. They said the money would hold EMS staff over until commissioners meet to work on a budget next month, which would likely include EMS pay raises. Sumner County EMS is the lowest paying EMS agency in Middle Tennessee whose employees work the 24-hour on, 72 hours off shift, Chief John Michael Poss said. According to the department’s social media, Sumner County offers nearly $49,000 a year for basic emergency medical technicians and a little more than $65,000 a year for paramedics.

An arrest has been made after a Lebanon resident woke up and found a man standing in their bedroom over the weekend. On April 13 at about 3:30 a.m., officers responded to an active burglary in the Spence Creek subdivision off Highway 109. Officers said a resident “woke up to find a male standing in their bedroom. The resident screamed and the suspect ran away from the home.
Williamson County Schools is one step closer to creating an online learning program following Monday night’s Board of Education meeting. The policy to create an online learning program passed in the first required vote with 10 yes votes. The program would allow high schoolers in the county to enroll in online courses. The superintendent of schools would establish procedures for the program.

Lebanon is applying for a state grant for half the cost of turning the Don Fox Community Park wading pool into a splash pad. The estimated cost to transform the 6,000-square-foot pool into a splash pad is around $700,000, and 50 percent of the funding would come from the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation’s Local Parks and Recreation Fund grant, which the city is applying for. The other half would come from the city’s general fund. If the splash pad project is approved, it would be about a three-year process, which includes six to eight months of construction.
