Footwear and apparel company, New Balance, is announcing plans for a distribution center in nearby Wilson County.  The warehouse is expected to create more than one-hundred-50 jobs with an initial investment of over 68-million dollars.  The project is planned near the Speedway Industrial Park.  It is slated to be completed sometime next summer.

The CMA Foundation is recognizing the work of some of the nation’s most dedicated music teachers.  Dozens of educators were honored during a ceremony at Marathon Music Works yesterday evening.  Recipients each get five-thousand dollars, half of which goes toward their music programs.  Of the 30 music teachers selected by the foundation, 17 of them are from Middle Tennessee.

The City of White House’s annual Fall Family Block Party is tomorrow at the White House Municipal Park. There will be a fall farmers market, craft vendors, food trucks, a free pumpkin patch sponsored by the White House Inn Museum, a costume contest, a free movie showing and more.

The Portland Public Library held a presentation ceremony to Robertson County home school student Tallen Haag for winning the Tennesseans for Student Success’  Tristar Reads contest for the middle school division. Haag is a two-time winner. In 2019, she won the elementary division. Participants began reading from May 31 to Aug. 8.

Thanksgiving dinner is going to be more expensive this year.  Turkey prices are 73-percent higher than last year largely due to the spread of bird flu, which led to a smaller supply.  Higher feed costs and a labor shortage also factored into the increase in price.  The USDA says the cost of an eight-to-16-pound turkey is a-dollar-99-cents-a-pound, compared to a-dollar-15 last year.
