Officials with the Millersville Police Department arrested former Millersville Mayor Tim Lassiter last week on multiple charges related to tampering with government records and criminal simulation. Millersville Assistant Police Chief Shawn Taylor, Lassiter was picked up at his home on Tuesday night and transported to the Sumner County Jail by Millersville Police. Hours later, Lassiter posted his bond of $10,000 and was released from jail.

A man is in custody and charged with second-degree murder and one count of evidence tampering after a fatal shooting that took the life of one individual in a White House neighborhood last Monday. The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) responded to a report of a shooting at 1807 Winding Way in White House and discovered a body riddled with bullets along with a .22 caliber revolver and bloodstained clothing. The prime suspect is Jacob Allen Garrett who police say admitted shooting Patrick Joseph Fullerton. Garrett was arrested and later charged with second-degree murder and tampering with evidence.

The Middle Tennessee Strawberry Festival continues through Saturday, May 11 in Portland. The festival is free to attend with free parking and shuttles available. There are two main days of the festival: May 10 and 11. Expect a concert and fireworks on May 10 with a packed schedule to follow for the main festival day on May 11.

Robertson County will be kicking off Independence Day Weekend with Springfield’s fourth annual Freedom Fest on Wednesday, July 3 at the Robertson County Fairgrounds. This year’s free event, presented by Grace Baptist Church, will take place from 4-9 p.m. with a number of activities for the entire family, including carnival rides, inflatables, and local vendors. A wide variety of food trucks and beverage vendors will also be available for purchase.
