At least one person died in a fiery crash in Gallatin Tuesday morning. Sumner County EMS says a vehicle involved in the crash near the 2300 block of Nashville Pike at the Vietnam Veterans Boulevard Bypass struck a concrete pillar and burst into flames. Bystanders were seen attempting to put out the flames and rescue someone from a vehicle. No additional information was immediately released.
If you thought you saw a rocket engine traveling up I-65 Tuesday, you’re not crazy. It was heading to Springfield. Several months ago, the Saturn 1B Rocket had to be dismantled after standing tall at the Tennessee-Alabama border for 44 years. Gateway STEM Center founder Robert Dillard said several months ago, he applied to NASA’s artifacts program to bring part of the rocket home to Springfield. To his surprise, they said yes, and allowed him to pick up one of the eight engines. Dillard is working to clean the engine and hopes to have it on public display in about six months.
Tennessee is a good place to get a job right now. The unemployment rate has fallen for the second month in a row. Tennessee’s new unemployment rate is 3.2%. After an uptick at the start of 2024, unemployment is trending down for February and March. Commissioner Deniece Thomas, who heads Labor & Workforce Development says One especially bright spot in Middle Tennessee is Cheatham County, where unemployment is one of the lowest statewide at 2.3%.
Police have identified the man who died after being shot at a bar in Clarksville early Sunday morning. 22-year-old Isaiah Henderson, of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, was shot and killed inside Smooves Bar and Grill off Fort Campbell Boulevard just after midnight. The shooting suspect remains on the run
