Teachers carrying guns could soon become a reality in Tennessee schools. The Senate passed HB 1202 26-5 vote yesterday after clearing the gallery following cries from people protesting the legislation. The bill would allow faculty or staff members of a school to carry a concealed handgun on school grounds under certain conditions. The bill will now go to the House, where it has been placed on the regular calendar for April 17. If it passes, it will become law once the governor either signs it or allows it to go into law without his signature.

Bart Durham is dead. He was well-known in d Middle Tennessee, establishing his injury law firm in 1975 after serving in the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office in 1969. Former Metro Councilman and attorney Adam Dread said Bart Durham not only has helped out his clients, he has helped out young lawyers as well. Bart Durham was 89.

The family of a 26-year-old Clarksville man who died Monday evening in a double shooting is putting out an urgent plea to the community for information. Shaqueta Nicholson, the mother of 26-year-old Glenn Nicholson Jr. says he left behind his 3-year-old daughter, Aurora La-Shay. She’s urging citizens who may have information about the death of her son and his fiancée Savannah Lumpkin to get in touch with Clarksville police.

A Nashville man who allegedly terrorized shoppers in a Cheatham County store over the weekend is facing false imprisonment, aggravated assault, disorderly conduct, and other charges. The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office says Johnny Heard is 57 years old and has a criminal history dating back to 1987. Heard’s bond after Friday night’s arrest is $37,000. Cheatham County officials say his next court date is next week.
