Police in Clarksville are investigating a shooting that left two people dead last night. The Clarksville Police Department said officers were sent to the 600 block of Martin Street just after 6:30 to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived, they found two people who had been shot. Both victims died from their injuries; their names were not released.

Hendersonville Police Chief Mickey Miller after serving more than half a century in law enforcement. Miller’s career began in Nashville where he was best known for his work on cold cases before moving to Hendersonville to lead the police department. Assistant Police Chief Jim Jones will now lead the city as Hendersonville’s sixth police chief.

The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office says 15-year-old girl Akyla Walton has been found safe. She disappeared Sunday around noon and was last seen leaving her Thompson Station residence.

Edgehill neighborhood residents and Belmont University community members will come together with local faith leaders on Saturday to honor the memory of 18-year-old Jillian Ludwig. The Belmont University freshman was shot in the head allegedly by Shaquille Taylor killed at the William Edmondson Homesite Park and Gardens near Belmont in November. Taylor said he was trying to shoot a car, but the stray bullet hit the 18-year-old instead.

A grand jury indicted a Middle Tennessee man with sexual exploitation of a minor for crimes spanning over a few months. 67-year-old Joseph Frank Benton, 67, is indicted with “unlawfully, feloniously, intentionally and knowingly” having material that included a minor engaging in sexual activity. The material was a 20-year-old photo of a family member, the document says. He is accused of possessing the material between Jan. 1, 2024 – March 15, 2024.
