Several Vanderbilt University students face possible expulsion, on top of legal troubles, after staging a protest on campus. The protest began after students claimed school administrators removed a proposed amendment to the Vanderbilt Student Government Constitution to prevent student government funds from going to certain businesses supporting Israel. Soon after it turned into dozens of students being handcuffed and removed from the building, all captured in cell phone video by fellow students.
Authorities are investigating a hazmat situation at the Walmart Distribution Center in Lebanon. A small amount of a powdered substance reportedly spilled in two semi-trailers. EMA said there were 12 patients; 10 were evaluated and released after the scene was decontaminated, while two others went to Vanderbilt Wilson County for treatment after leaving. All patients reported nausea.
A second soldier is coming forward, claiming he was given just hours to pack up all his family’s belongings before his apartment complex threw them away. Fort Campbell soldier Roy Wilson says he lost $14,000 of belongings when his complex, Wynwood Apartments, threw them out while out of state training. Wynwood’s attorney disputed the claim, saying Wilson was given ample time to pick up the belongings.
The suspect in the deadly Easter shooting at a Salemtown coffee shop and restaurant has a lengthy criminal history, according to court records. Court documents say 46-year-old Anton Rucker, who is currently on the run from police, was out on bond for aggravated assault, a felon in possession of a gun, and three felony drug charges out of Rutherford County from last August and last October at the time of Sunday’s shooting. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation added Rucker to its “Most Wanted” list and is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to his arrest. The TBI said Rucker should be “considered armed and dangerous.”
