Multiple law enforcement agencies have executed a search warrant at a Springfield home on Owens Chapel Road about an active investigation. The TBI confirmed they assisted RCSO with the search warrant but referred all further questions to Robertson County authorities. The Cross Plains Fire Department said the investigation at the home revealed threats which are physical items that could ignite. The family of Jennifer Wix, a woman missing from Robertson County since March 24, 2004, says the house authorities are searching is Wix’s boyfriend’s home.

In the year since the devastating Covenant School shooting, numerous polls have shown support for changes to the state’s gun laws. But Tennessee’s Republican supermajority has blocked any legislation hinting toward a change. Democrats have, somewhat hopelessly, urged their colleagues on the other side of the aisle to at least think about changes. Many Republicans are wary about pushing for gun reform, even moderate reform because they are seen as Trojan Horses, that they could open up the floodgates for large reform,

A Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office member pulled over a car near Jackson Felts Road. The deputy stopped the Dodge Charger for a window tint violation. As it turned out the car, also had a license plate belonging to another car. The deputy searched the car and found Thomas Boyd’s ID on the floorboard. That’s when the 25-year-old who had given police a false name took off running into the nearby tree line, but there was a slight decline, so the suspect fell and the deputy pounced on him. Following a brief scuffle, the deputy was able to handcuff Boyd and found a meth pipe in Boyd’s pocket.

A recent report from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) revealed an alarming amount of money lost to internet scammers across the nation, including the Volunteer State. According to the 2023 Internet Crime Report, Tennesseans lost $161 million to online predators. It’s a devastating trend up 40% from the $113 million lost in 2022. Tennessee is ranked 31st for most funds lost to cybercrime in the country. A total of $12.5 billion vanished nationwide in 2023, the report stated.
