Interstate 65 in Robertson County is down to one lane as crews conduct bridge work at Cedar Grove Road. Rolling roadblocks, up to 15 minutes at a time, will be conducted on the interstate from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m., until Thursday, while crews set bridge beams on the I-65 overpass over Cedar Grove Road at mile marker 114.6. The bridgework is part of the I-65 widening project stretching from near State Route 25 to near State Route 109 which includes work on 10 bridges and four overpasses. Motorists are advised to plan for extra travel time and slow down while in a work zone.
Free flu shots are available in Tennessee. State health officials are already concerned with an uptick in flu cases ahead of the winter and they are advising Tennesseans to get the shot. Information about free flu vaccinations can be found online and anyone over the age of six months is encouraged to roll up their sleeves. Anyone with flu-like symptoms is advised to follow protocols like mask wearing, hand washing and staying home when possible.
The Cheatham County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible explosive device found in a Joelton mailbox Monday morning. It was reported in front just after 9:00 a.m. Authorities say the THP bomb squad and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosive are investigating as well.
The Discover White House Expo and Safety Day presented by The Farmers Bank is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the City Hall Complex on College Street. There will be a variety of businesses and organizations with vendor booths and a puppet show and face painting for the kids. The White House Police Department and Fire Department will be hosting Safety Day. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Nashville District will be focusing on ways to help stop the spread of carp in the Tennessee River. They’ll be unveiling up to ten projects that will assist in the spread of the invasive species. Officials say they compete with native species for food and habitat, making them a threat to the environment and ecology of the waterway.
