Two men with long criminal histories reportedly led members of multiple law enforcement agencies on a chase through Sumner and Davidson counties. It all began Tuesday in Hendersonville when officers tried to stop a black Nissan Altima for traffic violations. 28-year-old Wanyaa Lewis was behind the wheel 29-year-old Clark Webb was in the passenger seat and Webb’d 5-year-old daughter was in the backseat, The duo faces a long list of charges, and Lewis’ bond is set at $100,000 while Webb’s is set at $15,000.

Frank Sutton, the Clarksville native was a household name across the country as gunnery sergeant Vince Carter, on Gomer Pyle, USMC a show that ran almost 60 years ago. Mark Holleran a respected realtor in Clarksville was one of a group of people who got a statue of Sutton erected in Clarksville to honor the actor’s life and the town’s military heritage. Sutton died of a heart attack in 1974 at age 51.
A bystander was critically injured as shots were fired during a car chase along Antioch Pike Wednesday night. A Metro officer who responded to the scene reported one vehicle was chasing another down Antioch Pike when the lead vehicle pulled into the parking lot and shots were fired. The victim was waiting inside a white Chevy Camaro for food at a food truck when he was struck in the head by gunfire. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition.
A man is in custody after an alleged drunken shooting spree from his garage put several of his neighbors in danger on Tuesday night. White House Police say 56-year-old Charles Benson opened his garage door, loaded an assault rifle, and began firing randomly at nearby homes and a business. Police reported that three bullet holes were discovered in two separate houses, and one nearly struck a sleeping 7-year-old child. Police found Benson sitting on a lawn chair with the assault rifle on his lap and said he appeared to be “extremely intoxicated.” He was arrested without incident.
