A suspect is in custody after two people were shot dead in Springfield Sunday afternoon. Police were sent to the 1300 block of Pine Circle Sunday afternoon, they found the two victims in a parked car. Deshawna Traughber was pronounced dead at the scene. Niccole Lane was provided emergency treatment at the scene but died from her injuries a short time later. Monday Vontez Johnson of Nashville — was arrested for his connection to the shooting. He is in the Robertson County Jail facing two counts of criminal homicide.

Several Sumner County moms held a prayer vigil Sunday evening as search efforts continued for missing 15-year-old Sebastian Rogers. Dozens met in the Beach High School parking lot, where Sebastian attends school and not far from where he was reportedly last seen, on Stafford Court, on Feb. 26. Despite extensive search efforts from air and land, including mounted patrols, save searches, and multiple canine units, Sebastian’s whereabouts remain a mystery roughly two weeks after he was reported missing.

Springtime is most evident at Cheekwood Estate and Gardens as the Cheekwood in Bloom event began over the weekend. The theme is Belles Fleurs this year. Cheekwood boasts 250,000 blooming bulbs in apricots, lavenders, warm pinks, and yellows. On par with the theme, the color garden is designed to hint at classical French gardens.

The Tennessee Valley Authority is opening its public campgrounds for the season on March 15. Six campgrounds across Tennessee can be used for the day or overnight. Camping and RVing numbers have increased since 2020, according to Clay Guerry, the Recreation Strategy Specialist for TVA. In 2022, 130,000 visitors camped at TVA campgrounds. Camping reservations opened on December 1st, and 85% of the capacity for the season is already filled. If you would like to reserve a campsite before they are all gone.
