Newly obtained body camera footage shows Tennessee Highway Patrol troopers not seeing a reason to take a mother’s five young kids away, but the Department of Children’s Services (DCS) still did. In February 2023, Bianca Clayborne, her partner, Deonte Williams, and their five kids were driving from Atlanta to Illinois for a funeral when they were pulled over in Coffee County. According to the arrest documents, they were pulled over for a possible window tint violation and for driving slowly in the passing lane. Troopers noticed a smell of marijuana and found five grams of marijuana in the car. According to court documents, both Clayborne and Williams said the marijuana was theirs. Troopers also found a loaded gun and $9,000 cash in a diaper bag, according to authorities. DCS and the Tennessee Attorney General’s office said they have no comment on the video or lawsuit due to ongoing litigation. State troopers said separating the family was not their decision at the time of the arrest.

A man who was employed as a Middle Tennessee sheriff’s deputy when he assaulted police officers protecting the U.S. Capitol from a mob of Donald Trump supporters was sentenced on Thursday to nearly six years in prison. Ronald Colton McAbee dragged an officer away from a police line and punched another officer who tried to stop him. McAbee said he never intended to “strike fear or be part of the chaos” on Jan. 6, 2021. Neither officer assaulted by McAbee attended his sentencing.

The new Nissan stadium will be built on the east side of the current stadium campus, along Nashville’s East Bank. Features of the building include a circular translucent roof; exterior porches with panoramic views of Nashville; improved sightlines; and a 12,000-square-foot community space available for use year-round.
