HB 2126 is working its way through the General Assembly. Proposed by state Rep. Rusty Grills, the measure would allow a Juvenile Court Judge to transfer a child who is 15 years or older to be tried as an adult for organized retail crime, theft of a firearm, or an attempt to commit such offense. Grills says if passed, the bill gives the DAs and the judges the opportunity, if the case warrants it, to let juvenile suspects be tried as adults.
Children who get pregnant will not be allowed to get an abortion in Tennessee. Republicans blocked a bill that would make an exception to Tennessee’s abortion ban for a child 12 and under. Rep. Gloria Johnson said her bill aligns with Tennessee state law which says no child under 13 can legally consent to sex. Johnson said quote: “We do not need to punish them further by enforcing a consequence of sex that they do not even consent to.”
Tennessee could be implementing digital identification cards and driver’s licenses, The bill, HB 2792/SB 2661 was introduced by Rep. Mary Littleton, R-Dickson, and Sen. Dawn White, R-Murfreesboro, on Jan. 31. Since then, it’s been assigned and discussed in committees and subcommittees. The Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security says a program is in the works for Tennesseans to use a digital version of a state ID and/or driver’s license, but no timeline was given for the program’s launch.
Approximately 15.5 million Toshiba laptop AC adapters are being recalled by Dynabook Americas due to fire and burn hazards. The recalled AC adapters were sold both individually and with Toshiba brand personal laptop computers from April 2008 through December 2012. There have been 679 reports of the recalled AC adapters overheating or catching on fire, melting, and burning. Among these were 43 reports of minor burn injuries. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled AC adapters and contact Dynabook Americas for a free replacement.
