A 41-year-old man was taken into custody after a barricade situation in Lebanon Thursday morning that lasted seven hours. The Lebanon Police Department said it received information from the Metro Nashville Police Department that officers were pursuing a kidnapping and burglary suspect in Wilson County. The suspect reportedly came into the West End Station neighborhood and barricaded himself in a home. Metro police reported that Cineca Oglesby was charged with especially aggravated kidnapping of a victim under the age of 13 and aggravated burglary concerning a Jan. 19 incident in which he went to a residence looking for his ex-girlfriend.
The fire at a hotel in Mt. Juliet has been contained and no major injuries were reported, according to Mt. Juliet Fire. A fire broke out at the Quality Inn hotel and 20 people were able to be evacuated. One person burned their hand in this incident. The second floor sustained damage and the fire is under control. The Tennessee Bureau is investigating the cause of the fire.
A Tennessee bill would punish gun owners who do not report their gun has been lost or stolen within a specific amount of time. Under the new bill, the gun owner would have 24 hours to report the loss or theft to law enforcement or risk facing a fine. The bill states a violation would be punishable only by a civil penalty of up to $500. House Rep. Justin Pearson, D-Memphis, originally filed the bill in April of 2023. Sen. Raumesh Akbari, D-Memphis, filed it in the Senate on Wednesday.
Portland officials have announced a reward in their ongoing investigation into a series of shootings targeting a water tower. There have been three recent shootings of the tower at 502 Highway 52 East. Bullets have dented and pierced the holding tank. Portland officials discovered visible water leaks from holes caused by the gunfire. All three incidents happened within the past year and police believe the incidents may be connected.
Nolensville is on its way to building a 27-acre town square in the heart of town. Businesses, retail, over 400 residential units, a parking garage, and walkable space surrounding the town square are all part of the over $200 million idea. The town says the developer hopes to break ground on this sometime this year and finish the project around 2029.
