A man is behind bars after pointing a gun at Walmart employees in Murfreesboro. Police say Nicholas Pritchard was at the Walmart on Joe B. Jackson Parkway Sunday to allegedly meet his ex-wife for a custody exchange of his two minor children. During the exchange, Pritchard allegedly got into a confrontation with three Walmart employees who were collecting shopping carts, and police say he left after he pointed a handgun toward the employees. Pritchard was charged with three counts of aggravated assault and booked into the Rutherford County Detention Center.
One Misdate Pastor calls it a solution without a problem. It’s a bill that would that would give officiants the power to refuse to marry anyone whose habits or lifestyle they disagree with. Pastor Travis Myer at First Lutheran Church in Nashville testified last week the law already allows him to just say no. The House bill passed 74 to 22 last march. The full Senate approved it Monday night. This bill is now headed to Governor Lee’s desk where he is expected to sign it into law.
Five individuals in Putnam County are facing several charges related to the manufacture and sale of methamphetamine and or fentanyl. On Monday, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office says its Drug Division assisted by the Patrol Division served multiple outstanding active arrest warrants. Sheriff Eddie Farris says they expect more arrests to be made over the coming days.
Here’s some disappointing news: Tennessee isn’t planning on bringing back its food tax holiday from the last few years. Dept. of Finance & Administration Commissioner Jim Bryson says it’s a no-go thus year because revenue is flat. Meanwhile, Gov. Bill Lee is looking to substantially eliminate the franchise tax and refund businesses who’ve paid it in the last three years, a move that has infuriated opponents who say it’s a windfall for big corporations.
