Clarksville city staff members are working to replace electronics equipment that was recently damaged by lighting. Officials report computers and video equipment used to stream council meetings were affected. Clarksville’s chief information officer says repairs and upgrades have been underway over the last month. The council is moving meeting live streams from Facebook Live to YouTube beginning October 27th.
A Robertson County parent has been making a passionate plea for the County Schools to hire a crossing guard to direct traffic in front of Coopertown Middle School since classes began. The County told Ryan Thompson they can’t find anyone willing to do it. Robertson County Schools hires its own crossing guards, which the sheriff’s office then trains. The district has hired three crossing guards since this summer but they say two of them never showed up for work. Robertson County Schools is actively hiring. Head over to rcstn.net.
A Maplewood High School freshman has been arrested for creating a social media post threatening to shoot up the school. Police said the student made the threat on Instagram. The post was made Wednesday morning, prompting a several hour investigation. The student was identified with the help of Instagram and arrested at his home. The teen is charged in Juvenile Court with threatening mass violence in a school and making a flash report of an emergency.
More than 150,000 Tennessee homes are living without adequate broadband internet, but Governor Bill Lee hopes the $447 million in federal grant money coming into the state will get them online. “People are moving to Tennessee from across the nation in record numbers, and we have an obligation to prepare our state for continued growth,” Lee said.
