TriStar NorthCrest Medical Center has made investments to help improve care in Robertson County but that resulted in the closure of a popular Springfield office. NorthCrest Family Healthcare has operated in Springfield for 29 years. Operated by Dr. Robert Ferland and his nurse practitioner wife JoAnn Ferland, will be shutting down tomorrow as the Medical Center sells its Clinics.
Authorities say the driver in the accident that killed a former Cumberland University football player is now facing charges. Court documents show 24-year-old Jamir Johnson is in custody on vehicular homicide and three vehicular assault counts. Investigators say he was behind the wheel of a Dodge Charger that left the roadway along East Clark Boulevard and struck a tree, killing 22-year-old Marcus Webb. Three other people were injured, including 20-year-old Brandon Pace, who remains in critical condition at Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clarksville will be hosting a breakfast on Tuesday, Nov. 29, at the Morgan University Center on the campus of Austin Peay State University. Cases of Canine Influenza — or dog flu — are on the rise in Nashville, and veterinarians are warning pet parents to take precautions. Veterinarians are seeing a spike in cases over the last three months, which is in line with the summer travel season when dogs would spend more time in boarding or daycare facilities.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is warning about an increase in cases of a viral infection called enterovirus D68. Cold and flu season is around the corner, but this infection can lead to some scary problems. Health experts said the infection can sometimes lead to a rare form of paralysis for kids.
