Ashland City police struggled to subdue a man who broke out the back of a police car window on the way to jail.  27-year-old  Zachary Hodskins was taking a rideshare to a rehab center,  Police say Hodskins was inebriated and unpredictable, and the rideshare driver let him out in a neighborhood near Caldwell Road where he allegedly started banging on windows of homes.  On the way to the Cheatham County Jail, the police car dashcam captured Hodskins allegedly elbowing the back window, breaking it out, then bending the frame on the window.  Hodskins was charged with three counts of assault on an officer, resisting arrest, and destruction of government property.

Coach Rick Stockstill has been fired after serving as Middle Tennessee State University’s football coach for nearly two decades.  MTSU’s Director of Athletics Chris Massaro made the announcement on Monday, Nov.27 stating that the decision was necessary to compete and win championships in the future. Stockstill was hired as head coach for the Blue Raiders in December 2005 and led the program for 18 seasons.  The athletics department said the search for a new head coach will begin immediately.

Tennesseans who took a road trip over the holiday weekend were met with the cheapest Thanksgiving gas prices in three years. The average price at the pump this Thanksgiving was $2.89 per gallon in Tennessee. Last year, Thanksgiving travelers paid $3.15 per gallon. In 2020, drivers were paying $1.89 per gallon at the pump on Thanksgiving Day.  The Tennessee Gas Price average is now $2.87 which is 26 cents less expensive than one month ago and 24 cents less than one year ago. 

The Tennessee Capitol is all lit up for the Christmas season. The state capitol had its annual tree lighting ceremony Monday night. At the event The Choir Room Choir sang, The 129th Army band played, and Santa gave in for a visit.  The 35-foot Norway Spruce was harvested from the Robertson County home of Ms. Dexie Goff.  The Tennessee Residence is now open for self-guided tours from December 1st through 3rd and the 7th through the 10th. The holiday decor theme is “Heaven and Nature Sing” and tours require a reservation.
