Police in Clarksville are releasing the identity of a man who drowned at Billy Dunlop Park last weekend. Authorities report the body of 20-year-old Jabori McGraw was recovered Sunday morning. Investigators believe he was swimming in the Red River Saturday afternoon when he got caught in an underwater current. McGraw was a soldier stationed at Fort Campbell.

Gas prices across the Volunteer State are continuing to decline. Travel club Triple A reports the average for a gallon of regular in Tennessee is now three dollars, 25 cents, well below the national average of three-70. Davidson County is in line with the state average, with Williamson County coming in higher, around three-48. Sumner County is seeing the lowest prices in the state, averaging around three dollars, seven cents per gallon.

An MTSU professor has reportedly sued State Representative Jeremy Faison for blocking him on Facebook. the social media user, Ray Barnes, got into a discussion online last year when Faison posted about Labor Day. After back and forth messaging, Faison reportedly blocked Barnes. In a federal lawsuit, Barnes says Faison violated his First Amendment rights by deleting his comments and blocking him on an official government page.

Meteorologists are predicting a La Niña pattern for the third winter in a row. This rare “triple-dip” La Niña has only happened twice since 1950.La Niña occurs when strong winds blow warm water on the surface of the Pacific Ocean near the coast of South America across the equator toward Indonesia. This change in sea surface temperatures has wide-ranging impacts on weather across the globe. Nashville’s National Weather Service Office, says that La Niña tends to mean a warmer-than-average winter for Middle Tennessee.

Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti initiated a formal complaint letter Monday against the U.S. Department of Education in its efforts to add gender identity protections under Title IX.The department wants to add the language “gender identity” under sex, as defined by the law. This hits at the heart of transgender athletes playing on the team they identify with gender-wise.”For 50 years, Title IX has protected girls and women and enhanced their educational opportunities,” said General Skrmetti. “The proposed regulations will hurt women, violate the Constitution, and create confusion as to what the law is and what the law requires.”
