The Clarksville community is mourning the five service members from the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment who were killed when a military aircraft crashed into the eastern Mediterranean Sea Friday evening. One of the fallen was Chief Warrant Officer 3 Stephen R. Dwyer of Clarksville.  When news broke of Friday’s Black Hawk crash, Montgomery County Mayor Wes Golden said he reached out to the garrison commander of Fort Campbell to offer condolences and help for the families impacted.  The cause of the crash is under investigation, but officials said there is no sign it was caused by any hostilities.

A Rutherford County mother is facing charges after her 4-year-old daughter was reportedly attacked by a pit bull last Thursday.  The 4-year-old was reportedly left unsupervised in the backyard when her mother, Candy Tittle, heard her scream for help. Tittle then saw the dog attacking her daughter.   The sheriff’s office says they’re investigating how the dog got out of its kennel. Tittle is being charged with aggravated child abuse/neglect as a result of the incident. She is being held on a $120,000 bond at Rutherford County Adult Detention Center.

One person has died after their vehicle was hit by a train near the Smyrna town square Monday morning.  The crash happened around 10:45 a.m. near the intersection of Front Street and Washington Street in the depot district. No additional information was immediately released.

Tennessee’s gun hunting season is set to begin on Saturday, Nov. 18. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said the season traditionally opens each year on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. During gun season, hunters are also permitted to use muzzleloaders or archery equipment.  TWRA rules say you can take no more than one antlered per day, and only two for the season.   If you were born on or after Jan. 1, 1969, you’re required to carry proof of completion of a hunter education class or be in possession of a permit while hunting in Tennessee.
