The state food tax holiday ended Tuesday. It was originally just a month-long holiday, but was expanded to three this year as lawmakers saw the need to cut families a break at the register. Now, there is a worry that inflation may affect food on the table for thousands. Food banks are asking for donations as they preparefor an influx of people needing help.
Hermitage residents say they are tired of waiting for the homeless encampment plaguing their neighborhood to close. Some want it shut down now because, they say, it’s out if control. Just last week, a fire spread outside the camp, and with colder weather, those living nearby expect more of this.
The United States Food and Drug Administration is recommending recalls of 27 eye drop products across seven brands. The administration recommended retailers pull several products from shelves after inspectors uncovered unsanitary conditions in a manufacturing facility, as well as positive bacterial contamination. Thousands of baby jumpers are part of a product recall due to potential fall and injury hazards. The recall involves about 115,000 Cosco Jump, Spin & Play Activity Centers. Straps on the jumper can detach or break while a child is in the activity center. Officials said the Cosco products were sold exclusively at Walmart stores and online from November 2020 through October this year for about $70. There have been 141 reports of activity center straps detaching or breaking that have resulted in 38 minor injuries such as bruises, bumps and scratches.
