At the end of the library board meeting in Sumner County on Wednesday, Oct. 18, Beverly Hyde officially decided to step down as a board member.  For the last several weeks, she and other board members have been discussing a change to the library system’s collection policy.  A portion of the policy details how they will protect children from harmful and sexually explicit material in the library, citing a state law regarding the display for sale or rental materials to minors. That portion also defined in graphic detail the terms sex act or sexual activity,  Hyde called the details if the definitions embarrassing.

An officer with the La Vergne Police Department posted for the first time regarding her condition after she and another officer were shot Saturday afternoon allegedly by John Drake, Jr,. the estranged son of Metro Police Chief John Drake one the victims Ashely Boleyjack said on Facebook she appreciates all the love and support and says she’s still in shock  but blessed to see another day.  38-year-old John C. Drake, Jr., is considered armed and dangerous and  was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Most Wanted list …

The Clarksville Police Department is searching for a man accused of using counterfeit money to purchase items on Facebook marketplace.  Police are asking for the public’s help finding 30-year-old Laquinton Tillman.  Police say Tillman frequently meets the victims in the Cobalt Drive area, then quickly pays for the items and leaves before the victim realizes the money is fake. One year after being charged with a DUI and resisting arrest, former State Rep. Jeremy Durham has been indicted for misdemeanor and felony charges for the incident.  The former state representative was bound over for driving under the influence, driving under the influence per se, reckless endangerment with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Both the reckless endangerment and the aggravated assault charges are felonies in the state of Tennessee. The matter now goes to criminal court.
