Officials warned the Spring Hill community late Sunday afternoon about an increased police presence due to a shooting investigation on Ruben Road. Spring Hill Police say two houses — both of which were occupied — were hit with gunfire. However, there are no reports of injuries. They also say there is no known danger to the public, but detectives are “actively following leads” at this time.
Anglers are getting an opportunity to fish at a newly stocked river before packing up their fishing rods and tackle boxes for the season. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency announced crews recently stocked the Elk River with more than 1,000 pounds of cutthroat trout. According to the agency, approximately 2,500 fish were stocked on the Elk River in two separate locations below Tims Ford Dam. Most of the trout, about 1,900, were released below the Tims Ford Dam at the Highway 50 access. A location two miles downstream received the rest.
The two police officers in La Vergne were shot Saturday– allegedly by the son of Metro Nashville’s Police chief. Officer Ashely Boleyjack and Officer Gregory Kern were allegedly shot by 38-year-old John C. Drake, Jr., who is still on the run and considered armed and dangerous. He was added to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation’s Most Wanted list on Sunday on two counts of attempted first-degree murder. The two officers were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where Kern remains in stable condition after overnight observation. Boleyjack was released on Saturday.
Packaged collard greens sold at Kroger’s in Tennessee have been recalled after the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Consumer and Industry Services Division (CIS) found Listeria monocytogenes. So far the TDA has not received reports that the collard greens have caused illness. TDA is urging everyone who has bought the collard greens product to not eat them.
