Handguns in schools are getting out of hand.  Last year, 127 handguns were found in Tennessee public schools, which is an 111% increase from before the pandemic.  Metro police 20 guns were stolen from cars in Davidson County last week, while 953 have been stolen so far this year.

A new option for students to learn can be found off Manson Pike in Murfreesboro.  Rutherford Collegiate Prep will officially become the first charter school to open its doors in Rutherford County.  The Florida-based nonprofit will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Rutherford Collegiate Prep.  The charter school’s application was initially denied by Rutherford County Schools back in 2021.  ReThink Forward appealed the decision where Tennessee’s Public Charter School Commission voted in January of 2022 to overturn the school district’s decision.

11-year-old boy was flown to a Nashville hospital on Thursday after being hit by a car in Clarksville.  Police say the 11-year-old was attempting to cross Tiny Town Road and was hit by a car traveling eastbound, according to police.  The child was flown to Nashville by helicopter, is in good condition, and is expected to be released.

Your electric bills will be rising in October.  TVA is increasing the price of power to your power company and your power supplier will most likely pass that increase along to you.  At the height of the COVID pandemic in 2020, the TVA began offering what they called relief credit which was to customers to help people be able to save money and get through the tough times. The credit ended at the beginning of October.

Wilson County Schools are working to launch an app called Here Comes the Bus, which would give updates to parents on the bus location.  The school district said it has the app, it’s just not ready to launch.  Director of Schools Jeff Luttrell says they can’t launch  the app until they have all of their routing information correct.  he school district does not have an exact date as to when the app will launch but Littrell says he wants it online this school year.
