Police in Clarksville are investigating a shooting that left one man critically injured last night at an apartment complex. Investigator say the bullet-riddled but still breathing victim was rushed to Tennova Healthcare in critical condition. Witnesses say they saw a dark-colored getaway car with tinted windows speed from the scene and detectives don’t think the suspect or suspects are still the immediate area.
An evangelist who calls the Blackman area home is facing a slew of charges that revolve around the rape of a child. Benjamin Garlick was taken into custody under a 5-count sealed indictment that was handed down by a Rutherford County Grand Jury. Garlick is being held under a $750-thousand-dollar bond. His wife, Shaantal Garlick is facing 1-count of Facilitation of Aggravated Rape of a Child and 1-count of Aggravated Child Abuse / Endangerment to a child age 8 and younger. She is free after posting a $75-thousand bond. About a month ago Shaantal Garlick filed for an Order of Protection against Benjamin Garlick.
The gender pay gap persists for women in the workforce nationwide, including in Tennessee. Figures released by the census bureau found the wage gap is highest in Utah where women are paid 60 cents for every dollar paid to men. The gap amounts to about 13 cents in Washington, DC, 15 cents in Vermont, 26 cents in Kentucky, and 27 cents here in Tennessee. According to an analysis of Census data, women were typically paid just 78 cents for every dollar paid to a man in 2022 – totaling a difference of $11,450 over the course of the year.
The Department of the Army announced Wednesday the 101st Airborne Division will deploy to Europe. The division’s 3rd Brigade Combat Team “Rakkasans” will deploy approximately 3,400 Soldiers from Fort Campbell to Eastern Europe. They’ll help reinforce NATO’s Eastern Flank in support of the ongoing response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
