Both Austin Peay State University (APSU) and the Rutherford County community are mourning the loss of a college football player following a Friday night crash. 18-year-old Jeremiah Collins of Lascassas, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Briley Parkway on Friday. Last night a vigil was held for Jeremiah in Murfreesboro, drawing dozens of people to the Oakland High School football field. No addition nal information has been released about the circumstances surrounding Friday night’s crash.
The Clarksville Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a 14-year-old girl who ran away from home nearly a month ago. Emya Woods was last seen on camera leaving her home just before midnight on June 24, according to Clarksville police. Woods is described as 5 feet tall and approximately 105 pounds with black hair and brown eyes and may be going by the name of Mya Richards. Anyone with information on Woods’ whereabouts is asked to call 911.
One man is dead and another has been taken into custody following a shooting at a Smithville home. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) released a statement on Saturday saying agents joined the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office at approximately 2 a.m. to investigate a shooting in the 100 block of Kings Court Circle. , 56-year-old Thomas D. Thomason died reportedly as a result of his injuries. Police have arrested 39-year-old Jarrett L. Manning of as the prime suspect in Thomason’s death.
Hendersonville police have arrested a man on sexual exploitation of a minor charges. An investigation led to the arrest of 40-year-old Jacob R. Oldham for two counts of soliciting sexual exploitation of a minor, Hendersonville Police Department reports. The investigation began July 15. Oldham is schedule to appear in General Sessions Court in Sumner County on Aug. 4th.
