Members of the First United Methodist Church recently sponsored the 27th annual Amen Open golf tournament on May 15 at the Legacy golf course Springfield.  The church managed to set a new fundraising record for the event of $15,110 which was split evenly between United Ministries Food Bank and C.O.P.E. of Robertson County.  Following the tournament, both organizations were each presented checks worth $7,555 from the Amen Open organizing committee.

An employee has been hospitalized following a work-related incident at the Nissan Complex in Smyrna.  The spokesperson says a supplier-partner employee was taken to the hospital after the incident Monday morning.

A Putnam County man arrested last week is facing more than a dozen counts of child sex crimes. 54-year-old Alex William Moore, who deputies say admitted to touching the girls said he did so “out of curiosity and accessibility.” Moore has been arrested on nine counts of aggravated rape of a child and four counts of continuous sexual abuse of a child. He’s being held on a $3 million bond.

A new study shows motorists should take extra precaution when traveling in certain areas in the Volunteer State.  A new study by Consumer Affairs lists four Tennessee cities in the top 25 for the worst drivers in America, with one Tennessee city claiming the number one spot.  Chattanooga is #19, Clarksville 17th, Knoxville ranks 12… and number 1 … no, Memphis.  Nashville didn’t make the list.

Never throw anything away.    A rare, first-generation iPhone from 2007 was auctioned for more than $190,000, setting a new record for the “Holy Grail” of collectible iPhones.  The factory-sealed 4 gigabyte model iPhone ended with a high bid of more than 400 times the device’s original price. The iPhone was discontinued just two months after its launch due to its popularity being far surpassed by the 8 gigabyte model.
