This weekend marks 20 years since two Wilson County law enforcement officers lost their lives on I-40. Two decades later, the city of Mt. Juliet continues to honor the two men who paid the ultimate sacrifice. Mt. Juliet Police Sgt. Jerry Mundy and Wilson County Sheriff’s Deputy John Musice were laying down spike strips to stop a high-speeding pursuit on I-40 when the getaway driver drove into them. The Better Business Bureau of Middle TN and Southern KY is warning consumers to be on the lookout for scams posing as Amazon Prime Day deals. The frauds can come in the form of phishing scams, misleading advertisements and lookalike websites. The BBB says be wary of unsolicited emails, texts, or phone calls, and never click on links from unknown sources. Watch out for social media ads that link to fake websites, and Always pay with a credit card because you can contest any shady charges through your credit card company.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has cancelled the Endangered Child Alert for a 16-year-old Cheatham County girl who was considered “armed and dangerous.” Agents say Katelyn McKeon, who has a medical condition that may impair her ability to return home safely has been found and is safe.
Murfreesboro Police Department are investigating a Saturday morning double homicide outside of a Cook Out in Murfreesboro. The 21-year-old alleged shooter involved in the double fatal shooting claimed he was protecting himself when he shot two men he said were assaulting him as he sat in the backseat of a car in the drive-thru. Officers found 31-year-old Tony Fuller with a single gunshot wound, along with his 18-year-old brother, Jacob Hawkins. Fuller was pronounced dead at the scene. Hawkins was also shot and taken to a local hospital, where he later died.
