Some Clarksville residents are protesting the arrival of popular gas station chain Buc-ee’s.   They say the  traffic and noise created by the nearly 77,000 square-foot travel center with 120 gas pumps are their top concerns.  Supporters say the business would likely boost the area’s economy by drawing thousands of people and employing hundreds more.

The Cheatham County School District says Pegram Elementary Fine Arts Magnet School will be offering a before-school and after-school daycare program beginning with the 2023-24 school year.  Parents of children already enrolled in the daycare program at Kingston Springs Elementary School do not need to anything as their children will be automatically enrolled.  Students on the KSES waiting list are being enrolled on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Kids in Portland can keep busy thus summer with the  Summer Reading Program. Students obtain a reading log for June and July 2023 from the children’s library. Students mark an X on every day that they read or listen to books. The only requirement is that school age children read 20 minutes and younger children read or be read to for 15 minutes a day. There are prizes for the different levels.

Most if Middle Tennessee is at risk for severe storms today and tomorrow. There is a slight risk (2/5) for areas along I-24 and east. There is a marginal risk for areas west of I-24. This is for both Friday and Saturday. The timing looks to be late afternoon into the evening Friday although there could be a few storms in the morning on the Plateau..

There’s a holiday celebration tomorrow at 5 p.m. at the White House Soccer Complex.  There will be live music, food and drinks, family fun like face painting, inflatables, balloon makers, and bubbles and the best part is there is free shuttles from 4 p.m. to midnight.
