Officials in Sumner County say a shooting suspect is dead following a barricade situation over the weekend.  Authorities report 42-year-old Jonathan Shrum shot two people during a fight at a home in Portland on Saturday evening before fleeing to his residence in Westmoreland and hiding from police.  The Sumner County Sheriff’s Office says deputies eventually entered Shrum’s home and found him dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.  The two people who were hurt in the initial shooting were still listed in critical condition at TriStar Skyline Medical Center yesterday afternoon,

The former director of the Sumner County Food Bank is in custody, accused of stealing thousands from the nonprofit.  TBI reports 81-year-old James Gill was arrested on Friday following a year-long investigation.  Authorities believe Gill transferred more than two-hundred-50-thousand dollars from the food bank to his own accounts, and also paid a food bank volunteer for sex.  He is charged with various counts related to theft, money laundering, and prostitution.

The Nashville Sounds are wearing special jerseys to honor those lost in the Covenant School tragedy during their home game against Gwinnett on Thursday.  The jerseys feature a heart on the sleeve that says “Covenant Strong” and includes the first names of the three staff members and three students killed in the March shooting.  Game-worn jerseys are selling in an online action through June 22nd, with the proceeds benefiting VictimsFirst and the Covenant families.

One week after a woman was shot in Clarksville, authorities reported a teenage suspect in the homicide investigation had been arrested. Police say on Sunday, June 4th, police found 23-year-old Wylil Alexander shot dead in a vehicle that had crashed into a dumpster.  16-year-old O’Jarrion Griffin of Clarksville was identified as a suspect in the case.  Yesterday had been taken into custody and police thanked the public for their help in finding him.
