The Springfield Board of Mayor and Alderman approved a tentative fiscal year 2024 budget from the Springfield-Robertson County Joint Airport Board, which aims to address a lack of benefits for its paid employees. The airport board had been working to get their employees on the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System and the state’s health plan, but those fell through, forcing the airport to explore other opportunities. Of the requested $75,000 $23,000 is earmarked for employee benefits, the rest would go towards capital projects.
The upcoming school year for White House High School is set to be a memorable one with its 100th year anniversary. To commemorate the historic milestone, a group of current faculty members and former alumni have formed the White House High School Alumni Network. To connect with people, the alumni association has a QR code, as well as a Google form link on the school’s website, for alumni to fill out. This will ensure that they will receive invitations and know about upcoming events.
The 34th annual Kiwanis Rodeo is May 18, 19 and 20 at the Montgomery County 4H Arena in Clarksville. There will be a petting zoo, pony riding and various activities for children and numerous food options. The city swimming pool in Portland will not open this year due to needed repairs. The pool is 50 years old and several leaks have been detected, which makes it a safety issue. Nearly one-third of all nurses in the U.S. are considering quitting. A new survey of more than 18-thousand nurses by AMN Healthcare Services that revealed 30-percent of them are looking to leave the profession after the pandemic left them overwhelmed and burnt out.
