After a successful show last November with four dealers, the Springfield Antique & Garden Market will return with an expanded spring show next month. It will take place at the Armory building at the Robertson County Fairgrounds in Springfield. The market will be open on May 5-6, with a Friday preview from 3-8:30 p.m. before a full opening that Saturday from 8:30 a.m-3 p.m.
The Greenbrier High School cheerleading squad was formally recognized by the Robertson County School Board for their accomplishments at their monthly meeting last week. More than 1,100 teams competed at theNational High School Cheerleading Championships at Walt Disney World Resort in February. Greenbrier’s 13th place result earned the squad its highest finish at a national competition in the program’s history.
A Henry County man has filed a lawsuit against Bi-County Solid Waste Management System of Montgomery and Stewart counties on behalf of himself and all others not paid overtime for time worked. The plaintiff, Christopher Davis of Henry County, said in the suit that the defendants were aware they were not providing compensation for the overtime of its employees. Dav is is looking for the lost compensation, liquidated damages, statutory penalties, attorneys’ fees and costs and other related damages.
The Tennessee House has passed a bill making Juneteenth a paid state holiday. It had previously been recognized as a “Day of Special Observance.” Now, June 19 will be a paid holiday. The Senate version of the bill passed earlier this year and it will be sent to Governor Lee’s desk for approval.
A new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is finding roughly one in three U.S. households used the free at-home COVID tests given by the Biden administration. The report found that over 32 percent of households surveyed between April and May 2022 used the kits, with under 60 percent ordering them..
