41-year-old Brian E. Nicklas who listed addresses in both Clarksville and Madison is in jail accused of being a peeping tom. Cheatham County deputies received a 911 call that a Peeping Tom was being held at the Sudden Service at 2601 Highway 49 in Pleasant View. Upon arrival, deputies found Nicklas being held in the restroom by the father of a 7-year-old boy. The father said he observed Nicklas looking over the privacy divider between the boy’s stall and his and watching the child. The father of the boy said Nicklas then tried to leave, but the father, who was wearing a weapon, told Nicklas he wasn’t leaving until law enforcement arrived.
A Tennessee mother and son are being convicted of crimes connected to the January 6th riots at the U.S. Capitol. Court records show Lisa Eisenhart and Eric Munchel have pleaded guilty to all the charges against them related to the events of the day. Munchel has also been called the “Zip Tie Guy” after pictures of him carrying zip ties inside the Capitol surfaced. His Nashville home was searched and led to the discovery of assault rifles, a sniper rifle with a tripod, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and other weaponry. Both pled guilty to several charges including conspiracy to commit obstruction, entering a restricted building with a deadly or dangerous weapon and disorderly conduct. They are set for sentencing in September.
A bill concerning so-called “obscene” books in public schools is heading to the governor’s desk. The bill has passed both the Tennessee House and the Senate and would make it illegal for a publisher to sell material deemed obscene to public schools in the Volunteer State. It is now up to Governor Bill Lee as to whether the bill becomes law. Supporters believe it will protect children, but critics believe the focus on protecting children should result in gun reform and not “banning books.”
The Tennessee Department of Agriculture announces Cindy Bilbrey has been named the new State Entomologist. Bilbrey has been a Plant Inspector II in TDA’s Plant Certification Section for more than 20 years working with nursery and greenhouse growers, plant dealers, and hemp producers in Montgomery, Robertson, Sumner, and Wilson Counties..
