The daughter of Montgomery County Sheriff John Fuson is now officially facing child abuse charges. A grand jury has indicted Sarah Fuson on two counts of child abuse related to her alleged treatment of a toddler at Tylertown Learning Center while she was employed there in January. A Department of Human Services report states that the child was pushed up against a table while eating and was placed onto a cot in a way that left marks and bruises on her arms. Fuson is scheduled to appear in court on May eighth.
Thousands of people are expected to protest at the Capitol in Nashville today. Protestors are going there to ask for stricter gun laws and to voice their support for the so-called “Tennessee Three.” That nickname refers to the three Democrat lawmakers who are facing an expulsion vote today after their recent participation in gun reform protests following the Covenant School shooting which claimed the lives of six victims. A two-thirds vote is needed to expel Representatives Gloria Johnson, Justin Jones and Justin Pearson. Johnson yesterday accused lawmakers of double standards, saying the legislature has allowed admitted child molesters to remain in their seats.
Loved ones, friends, and former students are saying goodbye to Doctor Katherine Koonce. The Covenant School director was laid to rest following a celebration of life at Christ Presbyterian Church yesterday. Doctor Koonce began her career in education at the Susan Grey School at Vanderbilt, serving in many locations and roles before taking over as head of the Nashville private school in 2016. Her former colleague and friend Anna Caudill says she has no doubt Doctor Koonce was confronting the shooter at the Covenant School in the last moments of her life.
Robertson County Golfers will have their eyes glued to their televisions as The Masters golf tournament begins today in Augusta, Georgia. Tiger Woods is scheduled to tee off just after 10 am Eastern and will play alongside Viktor Hovland and Xander Schauffele [[ zander shawf-lee ]]. Defending champion Scottie Scheffler will be paired with Max Homa and amateur Sam Bennett.
