Military officials and Kentucky State Police are responding to a crash involving two Army helicopters in Trigg County. A Fort Campbell spokesperson says the incident happened around 10:00 o’clock last night near Highway 68. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear says that fatalities are expected in connection with the crash. Army officials have confirmed that the Blackhawk choppers were being operated by members of the One-Hundred-First Airborne Division during a “routine training mission”.
Representative Andy Ogles is facing criticism for his past social media posts. Ogles yesterday faced questions about his 2021 Christmas card post on Instagram which shows him posing with his family members, including his children, two of whom are holding guns. It comes after the shooting at The Covenant School in Nashville which is within the district Ogles represents. He asked reporters, “why would I regret a photo of my family exercising my right to bear arms?” The post was later deleted from his page.
State Representative Gloria Johnson wants Tennessee to adopt a “red flag” gun law. Gloria Johnson has said she is going to propose a bill that would align Tennessee with 19 other states with similar legislation already in place. Red flag laws are designed to temporarily remove a gun from a person who is seen as being a risk to themselves or others, or to stop an at-risk person from buying a weapon. She believes Monday’s school shooting in Nashville would not have happened if the law was in place.
The FDA is green-lighting over-the-counter sales of Narcan by late summer. That means the drug that reverses opioid overdoses will be available without a prescription. Narcan, which is administered as a nasal spray, is credited with saving thousands of lives over the past few years. It’s likely to be about 47-dollars for a two-spray kit.
