Tennessee’s abortion ‘trigger laws’ are now set to take effect on August 25th.  A procedural move by the U.S. Supreme Court yesterday set the date state laws can begin to be applied.  Tennessee’s Attorney General is required to notify the Code Commission 30 days ahead of the law change, and was unable to do so until the official SCOTUS judgment was entered.  Physicians can be charged for performing abortions’ after that time.

The White House Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its first ever “Thrive Women’s Luncheon” on Aug. 10th.   The event is a spin-off of the chamber’s “#NoFilter Girls Summit” is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Donald L. Eden Community Room at the Billy S. Hobbs Community Centerin White House.  The luncheon will host 75 guests. Cost is $25 per ticket, which can be purchased online via www.whitehousechamber.org or at the chamber office on Hwy 76.  Deadline to purchase is Aug. 5.

An app designed to enhance school safety is available and state leaders are urging parents and students to become familiar with it.  The SafeTN App was developed in 2019 and is a platform for people to send in tips related to school or personal safety or any threat.  The State Department of Safety and Homeland Security says the app offers students a way to report suspicious or threatening behavior.  Users can also submit tips about assaults or threats of violence..

The Robertson County Emergency Management Agency says a house fire on Cross Plains Road is believed to be due to Tuesday’s storms.  EMA Director Chance Holmes said you can see where the lightning strike ran inside the house and caught the walls on fire.  One person was hospitalized in stable condition.
