The Wilson County School district is introducing measures to protect its students.  The school board has agreed to provide Narcan and epi pens in schools to help anyone suffering from an opioid overdose.  Narcan is used in those situations, such as the one in Williamson County last week when a 16-year-old student was found unresponsive in a high school parking lot.  The school resource officer administered two doses of Narcan, possibly saving the student’s life.

Police are looking into a bomb threat that was emailed to officials at the Hendersonville Public Library.  City spokesperson Casey Lamarr says police conducted a security check at the Saundersville Road property yesterday afternoon before allowing the library to reopen to the public.  Detectives are not sharing additional information on the threat while the investigation is underway.  Officials say the Hendersonville library has gotten various threats after hosting a story reading by Christian actor Kirk Cameron last month.  Fox News previously reported they were told by Cameron’s publisher that someone with the library threatened to cancel the reading before the board of directors stepped in.  Hendersonville Mayor Jamie Clary has called that statement “terribly inaccurate”.

A new world record I free-diving: Free-diver David Vencl [[ VEN-sul ]] is in a class by himself after setting an icy-cold world record Tuesday.  The 40-year-old Czech diver took one breath, dove through a hole drilled in the ice on Switzerland’s Lake Sils and grabbed a sticker placed more than 170 feet below the surface of the frozen lake.  One minute and 54 seconds later, Vencl came up through the hole, spat out some blood, and opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate.  The water temperature was between just over freezing and just under 40 degrees.
