Governor Bill Lee is set to deliver his fifth State of the State Address in Nashville today. It comes after he won a second term in November’s election. Lee released a statement about the address last month, saying he is looking forward to sharing his budget and legislative priorities for the upcoming year. It is due to start at 6 p.m. Central Time and can be watched live on the governor’s YouTube channel.
Robertson County will soon receive its first installment of payments from the state following a nationwide lawsuit settlement by the pharmaceutical company and opioid manufacturer Janssen, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson. The proceeds will go towards opioid education and prevention. At last week’s County Commission meeting, County Mayor Billy Vogle provided details of the funds they will receive from the state and said Robertson County drawing money from it for the next 18 years, but the largest bulk will be received up front.
Madison Freeman, a 2021 graduate of White House High School, was named to the Dean’s List for the Columbian College of Arts and Sciences at George Washington University in Washington, DC. The honor was awarded for the fall 2022 semester and is given to students who meet a 3.75 GPA, have a full time academic schedule and meet attendance requirements for the university. She is a junior, with a double major in political science and criminal justice, and plans to study criminal or constitutional law in grad school.
Netflix is backpedaling on its recently released password sharing rules. Earlier this week the streaming service announced each Netflix account “is for people who live together in a single household.” Under the new policy, subscribers would no longer be allowed to share passwords, and all user devices must be reconnected to their home wifi once every 31 days to have “uninterrupted access” to Netflix. The news resulted in massive backlash from the public. Now, Netflix says those rules were posted in error, and were only applicable to subscribers in Chile, Costa Rica and Peru.
