A former Fort Campbell soldier and his wife were sentenced to prison this week after pleading guilty to child pornography charges. Federal officials say Robert Adkins will spend ten years behind bars and Kara Adkins will serve more than twenty for being in possession of images depicting child sexual abuse. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is studying ways to minimize flooding risk in Waverly.  Officials note the full report will take another six months, or more, to finish, but they are sharing information they have gathered so far.  Lieutenant Colonel Joe Sahl says Waverly leaders are being provided color-coded map books that show the impact of various rainfall amounts, allowing emergency management to better plan evacuation strategies.  He also says plans are in place to install precipitation gauges upstream of Waverly, along Trace Creek, so planners and first responders can be warned if water levels are becoming dangerous.

Police agencies across Tennessee are mobilizing their impaired driving enforcement programs in time for the Labor Dar weekend.  The Booze It and Lose It campaign led by the Tennessee Highway Safety Office begins August 17th and runs through September 5th.  The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is implementing the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign which runs through the same time.  Drivers can expect to see more police on the roads and sobriety checkpoints.
