White House High School has created the Crossroads Scholarship, formed by the family of Odell and Esterlene Starks, two lifelong residents of the White House community.  The scholarship will both serve as a means to further solidify the Starks’ legacy while supporting the future aspirations of students at White House.  Anyone looking for additional information can follow “The Crossroads Scholarship for White House High School” Facebook page.

The United Way of Robertson County is once again looking for volunteers to provide free tax preparation for low to moderate income taxpayers as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) free tax prep program.   IRS-training options begin in December and continue through January. Volunteers can choose their site location and register for training based on their desired volunteer role. Tax prep is set to begin in late January.

Lawmakers are trying to find solutions to the issues faced by the Tennessee Department of Children’s Services.  Officials met yesterday to discuss the problems and find potential solutions to the department’s crises which include understaffing and overcrowding.  Lawmakers’ suggestions include shifting some money from the proposed Tennessee Titans stadium to DCS, asking churches to do more to look after children and giving money from the state’s rainy-day funds to the department and to programs that help it.

The FDA says there’s a nationwide shortage of amoxicillin.  The popular antibiotic is used to treat sore throats, earaches and other ailments, and is in high demand due to respiratory viruses in the U.S.  Officials says part of the problem is that drug companies rely on other countries to get many of their ingredients, and have been facing supply chain issues.

A Hendersonville man is behind bars after being accused of stealing from a church where he worked. The TBI says 32-year-old Daniel Meadows was found to have stolen nearly 200-thousand-dollars from Long Hollow Church. He was employed there and had access to the money as part of his job. Meadows is in Sumner County Jail.
