Flood watches are in place in parts of Middle Tennessee. Heavy rain is expected to fall throughout the day across the region. The National Weather Service has a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Middle Tennessee which could cause small stream flooding today and tomorrow. Tennesseans are urged to take extra caution on the rain-soaked roads.
Hendersonville man is facing charges after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from the church where he worked. TBI reports 32-year-old Daniel Meadows is accused of taking close to two-hundred-thousand dollars from Long Hollow Church. Officials say an investigation was launched in June after the missing money was reported to authorities. Meadows had access to the funds as part of his job, according to TBI.
Police in Clarksville say a man is hospitalized and a teen is in custody following a domestic disturbance Monday. Officers were called to a home on Cinderella Lane around 9:40 a.m., finding the 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was flown to Vanderbilt Medical Center, with no further information on his condition currently released. Authorities report a 17-year-old was arrested in connection with the incident.
The Robertson County History Museum will be hosting their first ever Breakfast with Santa event Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. In addition to a pancake breakfast, there will be photos with Santa, as well as crafts and storytelling from Mr. and Ms. Claus. Live music will be on hand throughout the morning, featuring the bluegrass duo She’s My Sister, made up of teenage sisters Amelia and Reagan Brown.
“Woman” is being named the Word of the Year by Dictionary-dot-com. the website said the Word is “inseparable from the story of 2022.” Dictionary.com noted that searches for “woman” spiked significantly this Year because of high-profile events. the biggest uptick came in March when a senator asked current Supreme Court Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson to give a definition for the Word during her confirmation hearing. Dictionary.com also noted other significant stories around 2022 that centered around women including the overturning of Roe v. Wade, the death of Queen Elizabeth the Second and the imprisonment of WNBA star Brittney Griner. Other Words considered for Word of the Year included “inflation,” “quiet quitting,” “democracy,” “Wordle,” and the Ukraine flag emoji.
