The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile is making stops at several Middle Tennessee Kroger stores this week. The 27-foot-long dog will “ketch” up with fans in Gallatin and Hendersonville today. Individuals in White House and Goodlettsville can “relish” the experience of seeing the vehicle tomorrow. Stops in Lebanon and Nashville are scheduled Sunday.
Former Vice President Al Gore says the world needs to quit treating the earth’s atmosphere as an “open sewer.” Appearing on ABC’s This Week, the longtime climate activist said the extreme weather being seen around the world is just going to get worse. While he stopped short of saying President Biden should declare a national climate emergency, Gore urged the White House to take steps to help reduce the problem. Those include letting the Environmental Protection Agency take action to limit harmful emissions and to halt oil drilling on public land.
More than half of the 95 counties in Tennessee now fall under the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s high risk category for COVID-19. That now includes 51 counties including Robertson and 19 other Middle Tennessee Counties. The CDC says Tennessee’s positivity rate is now at 28.2% for the week of July 10th to 16th. 12 deaths were reported in that time period. As of July 19, 770 people are hospitalized with 113 in the ICU.
The Portland Fire Department is looking for your help in identifying a semi-truck and its driver related to a fire in a Mapco restroom the morning of July 12. Police say the fire occurred around 4:30 a.m. at the Mapco located at 404 S. Broadway and they would like to speak with the driver of a semi-truck once marked with Masonite International logos, but now no longer believed to be affiliated with Masonite International.
