A $15 million plan to build a new elementary school in White House has received approval from the Sumner County Education and Budget committees.  Director of Schools Dr. Del Phillips pointed to residential growth in White House as the need to build another school on land already owned by the county. The new building would be around 50,000-square-feet and room for 600 students

A woman was hospitalized following a violent rollover crash off Kenneys Rd early Thursday. Her SUV left the roadway and began to roll, landing on its roof. The driver escaped serious injury.  The cause of the crash is still being investigated.

Coopertown Police are investigating the theft of a $63,000 hydraulic hammer owned by Scott & Ritter, Inc. It was stolen from a job site near York Rd and E Felts Rd sometime Friday or Saturday, March 19th or 20th.  Police say the large industrial jackhammer was on-site to break ground for new housing and weighs more than 5,000 pounds. The owners are offering a$5,000 reward for information that leads to the capture of the perpetrators and for the return of the item. FedEx will honor a supervisor who got his overnight crew to safety during last year’s tornadoes.  Jamie Raymond stopped dozens of employees who were sorting thousands of packages, guiding them to a small break room minutes before the tornado hit the FedEx Ground facility in Mt. Juliet.  The tornado ripped a hole in the roof and damaged several trailers in the yard closing the facility for six months.  On Thursday, April 8th Raymond will receive the FedEx Humanitarian Award given to employees who go above and beyond the call of duty.

A bill to boost the state minimum wage is stalled in the legislature and won’t be discussed again this session.
