Greenbrier and White House will be participating in the annual Tennessee Tree Giveaway from 10 AM to 3 PM today under the pavilion at City Hall. The U.S. Forest Service found that more than two million acres of Tennessee’s native forests have been cut and more than 500 thousand acres of forest were converted to other uses. Planting 30 trees each year offsets greenhouse gases from your car and home.

Montgomery County will let its mask mandate expire at midnight tonight.  Mayor Jim Durrett said yesterday masks will still be required in all county and city government buildings to protect employees.  Mayor Durrett added employees will also be required to wear masks when working with the public unless there’s a partition between members of the public and employees.

Tennessee lawmakers are expected to consider a bill next week to raise minimum wage to 12-dollars an hour.  Democrats Senator Sara Kyle and Rep. Jesse Chism introduced the bill last month to increase the state’s minimum wage from seven-25 an hour.  If it becomes law, the bill would raise the minimum wage gradually over four years.  It would also establish that the minimum-overtime-hourly rate for employees working more than 40 hours a week must be one-and-a-half times the regular wage rate.

American Legion Post 45 in Greenbrier, TN will be hosting its first annual Spring Turkey Shoot for all 4 Saturdays in April. They start at 8:00 and last until Noon, at American Legion Post 45 on US-41.

Entertainer Ryan Upchurch isn’t forgetting his roots.  Upchurch visited Cheatham County’s new sheriff’s office on Wednesday to meet with the sheriff and other employees.  Upchurch gave the sheriff and chief deputy his first gold album.  The sheriff’s office said his love for Cheatham County, America and the men and women of law enforcement is amazing.

A bill that would allow both open and concealed carry of handguns without a permit passes the Senate by a vote of 23 to 9.  The measure moved forward today with exceptions including certain DUI offenders or a person convicted of stalking.  The bill now heads to the House for consideration.
