Spring Forward, Fall Back. Daylight Saving Time will begin at precisely 2 a.m. this Sunday. This means you will need to turn your clocks forward one hour. This is also a good time to change the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Every home should have working smoke alarms to provide an early warning. Statistics show that most fatal fires occur at night and almost every day a life is saved because of a working smoke alarm.

Greenbrier and White House will be participating in the annual Tennessee Tree Giveaway Day this year.  It will Friday, March 19th from 10 AM to 3 PM under the pavilion at City Hall. The U.S. Forest Service found that more than two million acres of Tennessee’s native forests have been cut and more than 500 thousand acres of forest were converted to other uses. Planting 30 trees each year offsets greenhouse gases from your car and home.

A grease fire that erupted at the McDonald’s in Joelton Wednesday afternoon has caused significant damage to the inside of the business. Crews found the fire had made its way into the vents and ductwork. One patient was checked out on the scene but there were no transports from this scene and no injuries to Firefighters. It’s unclear how long repairs will take.

Tennessee is temporarily suspending burn permits.  The Tennessee Department of Agriculture said yesterday burn permits aren’t being issued in much of the state due to winds, low humidity and dry conditions.  A permit from the Tennessee Division of Forestry is required to burn yard debris between October 15th to May 15 in places where city or county burn restrictions are not in place.

Bridgestone Americas says it will pay employees to get vaccinated for COVID-19.  The company is calling the 100-dollars offered to each of its more than 33-thousand employees “support payments.”  The company says it’s an effort to “remove barriers for employees who choose to get the vaccine.  The Nashville-based company says barriers include “missing work, child care, transportation costs, or other potential obstacles.”
