A Highway Patrol trooper is out of job.  THP said yesterday Trooper Sammy Allen has been fired after an “incident” at the Robertson County Jail involving an arrestee.  Trooper Allen was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of assault last week.  Allen is accused of choking the arrestee and punching him in the groin while he was handcuffed and restrained last November.

The Tennessee Department of Health reported 689 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to more than 775-thousand-700.  An additional ten COVID-19-related deaths were reported, bringing the total number of coronavirus-attributed deaths statewide to more than eleven-thousand-420.  Fewer than 900 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized statewide. In Robertson County, there have been 8,950 cases of COVID-19 since the outbreak began, 8,691 have recovered, and 120 have died in Robertson County since the pandemic started.

The Robertson County Health Department will be moving its current vaccination operations at the Robertson County Fairgrounds to Volstate at Highland Crest on Laureate Ave. Operation hours for the vaccination site are Monday-Friday 12:30pm-3:30pm and Saturdays 9:00am-11:30am. Vaccinations are administered by appointment to ensure there is an ample amount of vaccine, reduce long line, and have adequate parking so you can be monitored for fifteen minutes after you have the shot.

It’s Severe Weather Awareness Week in Tennessee.  The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency sys it’s meant to encourage Tennesseans to prioritize planning and preparation during severe weather.  This week marks a year since deadly tornado outbreaks in Middle and East Tennessee last spring.
