Fast-rising floodwaters in Robertson County late Sunday made for a busy evening for first responders. Around 10:30 pm a passenger vehicle with two onboard became hopelessly trapped on New Chapel Rd after rushing floodwaters engulfed their vehicle. The Pleasant View Volunteer Fire Department Swift Water Rescue Team deployed ropes, harnesses, and cables to rescue the car occupants one at a time. No one was injured. If you have to be out on our roadways, use caution and never try to pass a flooded road. Turn around, don’t drown.
The Robertson County Health Department will be moving its current vaccination operations at the Robertson County Fairgrounds to Volstate at Highland Crest on Laureate Ave. Operation hours for the vaccination site are Monday-Friday 12:30pm-3:30pm and Saturdays 9:00am-11:30am. Vaccinations are administered by appointment to ensure there is an ample amount of vaccine, reduce long line, and have adequate parking so you can be monitored for fifteen minutes after you have the shot.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported one-thousand-117 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to more than 775 thousand. 20 additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported, bringing the total number of coronavirus-attributed deaths statewide to more than eleven-thousand-400. Fewer than 900 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized statewide. In Robertson County, there have been 8,901 cases of COVID-19 since the outbreak began, 8,628 have recovered, and 118 have died in Robertson County since the pandemic started.
It’s Severe Weather Awareness Week in Tennessee. The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency sys it’s meant to encourage Tennesseans to prioritize planning and preparation during severe weather. This week marks a year since deadly tornado outbreaks in Middle and East Tennessee last spring.
