Two people were injured when their SUV left Hwy 49 between Owens Chapel Rd and Hwy 76 just outside Springfield and overturned around 7:15 Monday night. Cross Plains Fire Chief Tommy Jackson says the two occupants were rushed to NorthCrest Medical Center in Springfield with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is leading the investigation, but no official cause of the crash has been released.
Due to concerns about the weather and to allow time to clear the parking lot, the Robertson County Office Building in Springfield will be closed today. (TUE) Robertson County Mayor Billy Vogle says if you don’t have to be out on the roads, stay home.
With Many county health departments closed today due to the winter storm, appointments to get the COVID vaccine have been cancelled. Appointments scheduled for today will be rescheduled.
Governor Bill Lee is closing state offices in dozens of Middle and West Tennessee counties today. Governor Lee cited hazardous weather and travel conditions for closing state offices in 67 of the state’s 95 counties. Hazardous weather is expected to include freezing rain, ice and snow.
The Tennessee Department of Health says the winter weather impacting most of the state has resulted in two deaths. The state didn’t release details on the deaths. However, one death happened in Shelby County and the other in Maury County.
The Tennessee Department of Health reported one-thousand-143 new COVID-19 cases yesterday, bringing the total since the outbreak began to over 758-thousand-560. A few additional COVID-19-related deaths were reported, bringing the total number of coronavirus-attributed deaths statewide to nearly eleven thousand. Close to eleven hundred COVID-19 patients are hospitalized statewide. Robertson County has had 8,484 confirmed cases of COVD-19 since the pandemic began. 8,086 have recovered, and 107 have died from COVID-19 in Robertson Coonty.
