The Springfield Police Department arrested a suspect Tuesday following an aggravated robbery at the beginning of December. On December 2, police say a robbery occurred at the Dollar General located at 2259 Hwy 41-South just before store closing. The clerk told police that a male entered the store, displayed a handgun, and took money from the cash register.

Cold air sitting over Tennessee has temperatures low enough for a significant winter storm this week; the primary threat looks like freezing rain in West and parts of Middle Tennessee starting Wednesday but getting heavier early Thursday.

When ice accumulates to around 1/10″ you can have some substantial problems, especially with slick roads. When it’s around 1/2″ or more, you have big problems: power outages, numerous tree branches (and some whole trees) coming down, and depending on road surface temperatures, travel can come to a halt for hours to days.

The Robertson County 911 dispatch Center has something new. It’s called CodeRED and it will allow the center to notify the public of 911 outages, missing persons, evacuations and other life-threatening emergencies. For an incident such as the explosion in Nashville on Christmas Day, CodeRED would allow the center to communicate alternate numbers directly to residents who have subscribed to receive the information.
